6.2 Fighting and Bullying Policy

Kainai High School Administration and staff strive to ensure KHS is a safe place. This policy is in co-operation with other agencies to assist our students with prevention and intervention activities such as the use of the Aisiimohki program. Kainai High School will continue to use the "Ainaihka'si Bullying Behaviour Policy".

The following circumstances have been included in this policy: Kainai High School has taken a zero tolerance toward all forms of violence. Should students be involved in the following activities against staff/students:

Fighting and Unacceptable Behaviour (Against staff and students):

Unacceptable behaviours are those that contravene (being safe, being respectful, and being responsible) and including all aspects of bullying:

Physical Aggression: pushing, hitting, grabbing, pinching, spitting, tripping etc.

Social Aggression: gossiping, embarrassing others, verbal or racial slurs, group exclusion, etc.

Verbal aggression: mocking, put-downs, swearing at others, etc.

Intimidation: threats, dirty tricks, etc.

Sexual harassment: remarks, gestures, or actions of a sexual nature

Cyber bullying: posting on social networks (i.e. Face book, Twitter, Texting etc.)

Other individuals may face the same consequences for fighting if they are found to be involved in promoting the fight; encouraging and/or inciting others to fight; videotaping a fight with their cell phone and/or encouraging the fight just by attending when it is preplanned.

A non-fighting participant is defined as someone who meets one or more of the following criteria:

  • Videotape a fight with cell phone or other device,
  • Promotes the fight before or while it happens
  • Seeks out; encourages others to attend and attends the scheduled fight.
